As a recent buyer of two Persians, I wanted to share
some of my observations
with
you. Perhaps your web site visitors may find
interesting.
Title: Two cats really are better than one.
It has been our experience that owning two kittens
makes life better for the
kitty
cats and the owners as well. Previously we owned a
Himalayan who
recently
passed away. My wife and I both work and the cat was
left alone for
the
entire day in our apartment or our home. My wife
would notice that the
cat
paced the floor leaving a trail of paw prints on the
carpet. He must
have
done it consistently as the carpet was noticeably
worn down in the line
of
his pacing. Up and down, dozens of times a day. He
played when he was
young
but became increasingly inactive and was never
particularly
affectionate.
Not a lap cat.
It is very different with the two kittens we
recently received from you. They are active,
playful littermates. Running, jumping, eating, and
doing
their
business. They play with each other, roll around,
chase, stalk and
pounce
on each other. Brothers from birth, they provide a
level of mutual
entertainment
and interaction impossible to obtain form cat toys
and other
inanimate
objects. They appear healthy, happy and active.
Certainly there
are
other considerations when purchasing two pets like
double the food cost,
vet
bills etc., but the benefits outweigh the negatives.
We went into the deal having read several articles
from Cat Fancy and other
sources
about owning two cats. I just wanted to pass along
that the benefits
are
real. I would go so far as to say the purchase of
two cats should be
considered
the minimum and that owning a single cat should be
undertaken on
an
exception basis only. Perhaps it's different for
folks who are retired or
work
at home, but for working couples, two cats are
better than one.
Sincerely,
Mark and Luisa Schanuel
